The pollinator Lab

Welcome!

Here at the Pollinator Lab we study the behaviour of insect pollinators – especially bees, wasps, flies and moths. These fascinating insects pollinate about 85% of all plant species, including most of the fruits and vegetables that we eat.
We want to better understand pollinators and their allies, and our work focuses on their conservation, diversity, and agricultural potential.

The pollinator lab is led by Prof James Cook and based in the Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment at Western Sydney University.

Our lab stands on the lands of the Darug people. They were some of Australia’s first scientists.

We pay our respects to the traditional and ongoing custodians of the land and to Elders past , present and emerging. We acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded and that this is and always will be Aboriginal land.
